IS BOLLE FRENCH FRIED? OPERATIONS ARE MOVED TO THE U.S.

The parent of Denver-based Bolle America, which
distributes French-made Bolle ski goggles and sunglasses in
the U.S., "completed the acquisition" of Bolle France
yesterday, according to Robert Schwab of the DENVER POST.
The purchase of Bolle France was paid for with $33M in cash
and $22M in stock and the company's new name will be Bolle
Inc. Martin Franklin, Chair of NY-based holding company BEC
Group Inc., said that the company's new CEO "will be
stationed in Denver and further product development will
probably take place" in CO. Gary Kiedaisch, who was CEO of
VT-based Stowe Mountain Resort, has been named the new Dir
of Ops for Bolle Inc (DENVER POST, 7/11).
OLE BOLLE: Bolle has tested a new ad campaign in Denver
that will "emphasize the status-symbol nature" of its
sunglasses by "playing off" the popularity of its goggles.
TV spots will feature skiers, but BEC Group's Franklin said
that soccer and other sports "will be mined" for athletes to
appear in future spots (Robert Schwab, DENVER POST, 7/11).
