FRANCHISE NOTES

Bulls Chair Jerry Reinsdorf, on published numbers,
including Financial World's, estimating the Bulls' worth:
"Every value I've seen is way off. They are all missing the
point. This is not a stand-alone business. The value of
this team cannot be calculated by itself" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE,
6/23)....Marlins Owner Wayne Huizenga will meet with his top
sports officials Wednesday or Thursday to decide whether to
sell the team. Among those at the meeting will be Marlins
President Don Smiley and Huizenga Sports and Entertainment
CEO Dick Evans (MIAMI HERALD, 6/21)....In Edmonton, an NHL
Oilers source said that "at least" three groups will get a
look at the memorandum of ownership when it is finalized by
Midland Walwyn. It's "rumored" that one group may contain a
U.S. contingent that is willing to buy the team and keep it
in Edmonton (EDMONTON SUN, 6/22)....The Maloof family,
prospective owners of the Lightning, is featured in
extensive profiles in Saturday's ST. PETERSBURG TIMES and
