NAMES IN THE NEWS

          JACKIE JOYNER-KERSEE was among those who joined
     PRESIDENT CLINTON to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Title
     IX (USA TODAY, 6/18)....Turner Sports VP of Administration
     DAVE MAGGARD received the All-American Football Foundation's
     General Robert Reese Neyland Athletic Director Lifetime
     Achievement Award at the Foundation's Banquet of Champions
     VII in Las Vegas (Turner Sports)....Bulls G STEVE KERR was
     the lead guest on the NBC's "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. 
     Kerr, on his series-clinching shot in Game Six of the NBA
     Finals: "You know what's great about this shot is that for
     the whole series I was awful.  I played a terrible series. 
     Then all of sudden I hit one shot and it's like, 'Hey, I'm a
     hero.  I'm on the 'Tonight Show.'  All right!' It's great"
