          CHARLIE LYONS, CEO of Nuggets/Avalanche parent Ascent
     Entertainment, received a $164,039 pay raise and $75,000
     bonus in '96, bringing his base salary to $500,000.  Nuggets
     President ELLEN ROBINSON earned a $250,000 base, plus
     $54,250 in additional compensation (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS,
     6/13)....Norfolk, MA, Superior Court Judge Gordon Doerfer
     "cleared" Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT, who owns the Foxboro
     Park race track site, "of any misdoing" and ruled against
     CHARLES SARKIS' bid to continuing running Foxboro Park.  The
     ruling "clears the way for Kraft to begin eviction
     proceedings against Sarkis."  Sarkis had claimed that he had
     a "oral agreement" with Kraft to lease the track site for 35
     years (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/17)....More than 2,200 kids attended
     a free golf clinic with TIGER WOODS at Randalls Island, NY,
     sponsored by the Tiger Woods Foundation (N.Y. POST, 6/17). 
     BRYANT GUMBEL won a clinic with WOODS when he bid $8,000 at
     a Woods Foundation benefit at the N.Y. All-Star Cafe
     yesterday (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/17)....JOHN DALY, on his
     withdrawal from the U.S. Open in mid-round Friday: "It was
     too much pressure, too much mental stress too soon. ... But
     I'm not drinking, and that is the most important thing"
     (ESPN, 6/16)....GREG NORMAN gave golf tips to NBC's MATT
     LAUER outside NBC's studio on "Today" ("Today," 6/17).
