MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

          Shares of Fila Holding fell $4.50, or 12% on the NYSE,
     to $32.875 yesterday on news the company will "fall short of
     analysts' expectations" for second-quarter results (WALL
     STREET JOURNAL, 6/17)....In Ft. Lauderdale, Charles Bricker
     wrote that Thomas Muster is meeting with his racket sponsor
     Volkl "to fine-tune his new, longer racket.  He continues to
     believe that his racket is at the foundation of his swoon
     this year" (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 6/15)....The
     FINANCIAL TIMES' Nicholas Timmins reports that Great Britain
     officials will consider using money from the National
     Lottery "to phase out the tail end of sports sponsorship by
     tobacco companies where sports can demonstrate that they
     would be genuinely harmed by the ban" (FINANCIAL TIMES,
     6/17)....Molson Cos. confirmed that it is in negotiations to
     acquire Miller Brewing's 20% stake in Molson Breweries,
     Canada's largest brewery (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/17)....The
     Flyers' Dainius Zubrus signed a two-year deal with Easton to
     endorse the company's skates, gloves, pants and sticks
     (Marquee Group)....BRANDWEEK reports that "sources in the
     sports agent community say WB is shopping for an NHL athlete
     to add" to its sports lineup, which includes Shaquille
     O'Neal, Andres Gallaraga and William Fuller.  The Flyers'
     Eric Lindros is "a likely suspect" (BRANDWEEK, 6/16)....CBS
     Sports signed a licensing agreement with KS-based Brian P.
     Hakan & Associates that will cover apparel, accessories,
     sports equipment and supplies (CBS)....Leigh Steinberg, on
     Dennis Rodman's affiliation with Converse: "There's a real
     question as to how long this will last" ("Extra," 6/16).
