          Poulan-Weed Eater, sponsor of the Independence Bowl in
     Shreveport, LA, since '90, will "drop its support" following
     the '97 game.  Independence Bowl Exec Dir Glen Krupica:
     "Let's face it, there are much better times of the year to
     be promoting Weed Eater trimmers or Poulan chain saws than
     in December" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 6/11)....The Packers
     and WI-based Promotion Management Inc. will produce "The
     Packers Experience," an interactive theme park, from June
     28-August 3, located next to the team's training facility,
     Lambeau Field and the Packers' Hall of Fame (PMI)....From
     June 3-7, the week of the True Value 500 at Texas Motor
     Speedway, more than $80,000 in counterfeit merchandise and
     cash, as well as three vehicles used to transport the items,
     were confiscated by local authorities and speedway officials
     (Texas Motor Speedway)....IL-based Successories, a specialty
     catalog and retailer that designs, manufactures and markets
     products for business and personal motivation, has retained
     NJ-based ISI as its sports marketing agency (Successories).
     ...The Topps Company will mint a set of '97-98 Series I
     Basketball cards on site at the Basketball Hall of Fame in
     Springfield, MA, from June 14-21 (Basketball Hall of Fame).
