STADIUM NOTES

          In Tacoma, Brier Dudley reported that Mariners CEO John
     Ellis sent 9,000 letters to Mariners ticket holders, "urging
     them to vote" for a new Seahawks stadium.  Ellis wrote in
     the May 19 letter: "To maintain our high quality of life, I
     believe we must support efforts like Referendum 48 to insure
     that the amenities we enjoy and benefit from now are secured
     into our future" (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 5/29)....The IN House
     and Senate voted late Wednesday night in favor of a five-
     bill package that included a financing measure for a new
     Pacers arena (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 5/29).
