SEATTLE STADIUM OPPONENTS TO FOCUS ON ALLEN'S VOTING RECORD

Opponents of the new Seahawks stadium planned to charge
that Paul Allen "has no business calling for a statewide
ballot, because he hasn't voted for at least four years,"
according to David Schaefer of the SEATTLE TIMES. Chris Van
Dyk of Citizens for More Important Things said that King
County, WA, records show Allen registered to vote in May
'93, but hasn't voted since then. Among elections he missed
were September '95 measures for a new ballpark and Kingdome
upgrades. Allen's spokesperson Susan Pierson: "[V]oting is
only one measure of civic participation. ... Paul Allen does
a lot of things for the community" (SEATTLE TIMES, 5/28).
