NAMES IN THE NEWS

          The Pacers' MARK JACKSON and partner JEFF FARLEY have
     completed their first screenplay entitled "The Impossible
     Dream," about a fictitious college basketball player from
     Brooklyn.  They play to "sit down" with ERIC SCHWARTZ of
     Tribeca films and SPIKE LEE next month (N.Y. POST, 5/25).
     ...MARTINA HINGIS was profiled by Mark Starr in NEWSWEEK. 
     Starr: "With her great smile and preternatural play, she has
     received sport's highest compliment, a comparison to Tiger
     Woods" (NEWSWEEK, 6/2 issue)....Hornets G MUGGSY BOGUES was
     a guest on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.  The 5'3"
     Bogues, on what would have happened if he had sprouted to
     six feet during high school: "I would have questioned my mom
     ... we're a five-foot family" (NBC, 5/27).
