SPORTSLINE SETS LATE JUNE DATE FOR IPO

SportsLine USA "anticipates" its pending $46M IPO will
go forward in late June, according to Robert Marich of the
HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. An IPO preliminary prospectus shows
     that "though fast-growing," FL-based SportsLine posted $2.4M
in sales in '96 as a start-up and had accumulated a deficit
of $23.2M. Marich notes that "normally such a financial
performance would not be considered suitable for an IPO, but
the Internet business has a strong lure to Wall Street."
And CBS and other corporate investors "have pumped in
capital," giving SportsLine a "strong cash position" of
$17.7M as of March 31 (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 5/23).
ONE OF THE BIG BOYS NOW: VARIETY's Jeff Ostrowski
profiled SportsLine, noting that after three years, it is
now "considered a powerhouse among sports-related content
providers." SportsLine has grown from a prototype with no
online presence to a 30-person firm that launched in '95 to
today's firm of 150 employees (VARIETY, 5/19 issue).
