          In Kansas City, a phone poll conducted by the Chamber
     of Commerce from May 6-14 showed callers were
     "overwhelmingly" in favor of a new downtown sports arena. By
     a nearly 10-1 margin, responses have been in favor of
     building a new arena, with the NBA on top of the tenant wish
     list.  In all, 3,262 have called in for a new arena,
     compared to 371 against it.  Of those supporting a new
     arena, 1,497 prefer an NBA team (K.C. STAR, 5/22)....In
     Minneapolis, the Twins are "expected" to hold a press
     conference next week during which team Owner Carl Pohlad
     will outline MLB's future in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis
     STAR TRIBUNE, 5/22)....Tom Glavine has agreed to a contract
     extension with the Braves that will pay him an average of
     $8.5M through 2002 and make him MLB's highest-paid pitcher. 
     The deal "apparently" is $34M for four years, with a club
     option of $8M for a fifth year (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 5/22).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
