A new Nike ad with Tiger Woods that was shot last week
in Lecanto, FL, will "apparently" air during the U.S. Open,
according to Bob Harig of the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES. The ad
features the PGA Tour's first black golfer, Charlie Sifford,
and Lee Elder, the first black man to play in The Masters.
The spot features the two watching Woods hit practice shots
and walking the fairways of a course, while they talk among
themselves (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 5/15).
MORE TIGER: GQ Editor-in-Chief Art Cooper, after Tiger
Woods claimed a limo driver was miked during Woods'
interview with GQ: "If Tiger is going to be the next Michael
Jordan, if he is going to be this role model, if he is going
to be a sports messiah, even though he's 21, he should act
like a man and take responsibility for his actions. ... He
knows and everyone else knows that the story was accurate"
(USA TODAY, 5/15). In Baltimore, Milton Kent writes on
Woods' press conference at the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson
Classic under the header, "Woods Master From Tee To Green,
But Off-Course Judgements Suspect" (Baltimore SUN, 5/15).
