WILL PANTHERS LET THE SUNSHINE IN?

In FL, Sunshine Network GM Jim Liberatore said that he
"expects the Panthers to keep their broadcasts" on
SportsChannel FL next season for $2.8M, "rather than accept
a nearly" $5M offer from Sunshine, according to Barry
Jackson of the MIAMI HERALD. Liberatore "suggests the
Panthers are shortchanging stockholders of Florida Panthers
Holdings by doing so." Huizenga owns managing interest in
both the Panthers and SportsChannel FL and Huizenga
officials "want Panthers games on SportsChannel to provide
programming and revenue for Huizenga's cable network." But
Liberatore says that "because the Panthers are publicly
owned, they should accept the higher offer." Liberatore:
"People want to make money on that stock. It is the
responsibility of the Panthers to make it the best possible
deal for the stockholders." Huizenga Sports & Entertainment
Group President Dick Evans: "We always look out for what's
best for our shareholders" (MIAMI HERALD, 5/11).
