NHL PUTS EXPANSION APPLICANTS ON HOLD, FOR NOW

          The NHL's Expansion Committee met in New York on Friday
     to discuss the six active applications for expansion.  In a
     statement following the meeting, Senior VP & Chief Legal
     Officer William Daly: "We met for four hours and discussed
     the information we have gathered in the course of this
     process.  At this point in time, there are still some
     outstanding issues that need to be cleared up before the
     Expansion Committee can make any recommendations to the NHL
     Board of Governors."  Daly said the Committee will meet
     again on June 4 to further consider the applications (NHL).
