MEMORIAL DAY BEACH PLANNING: NEW SPORTS BOOK ON THE SHELVES

DENNIS RODMAN's second book, "Walk on the Wild Side,"
is released on Wednesday, by Delacorte Press. Co-author
Michael Silver, asked who gets "trashed" in the book:
"CHARLES BARKLEY a little. MICHAEL [JORDAN], in his eyes, is
somebody who will endorse anything. He thinks he's a bit of
a whore. But basically he won't touch Michael. He won't
touch SCOTTIE [PIPPEN]. He goes after SHAQ throughout the
book. He thinks Shaq is a fraud. He feels Shaq isn't his
mental match. Shaq tried to get real chummy with him at a
club in LA last summer. But Rodman blew him off" (CHICAGO
SUN-TIMES, 4/28)....SPIKE LEE's new book "The Best Seat in
the House," is due out in mid-May (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/25).
...WILT CHAMBERLAIN, in his new book, "Who's Running The
Asylum," on the NBA's expansion guidelines for the Raptors
and Grizzlies: "How would it be if a friend came to you and
said, 'I'm opening a French restaurant in Sherman Oaks and
I'd like you to come and patronize our place. But the
service is going to be lousy for the first four or five
years until we get things ironed out. And the food's gonna
stink for about eight or nine years. But I appreciate your
coming and giving us some business. And then, when things
get really good, the prices are going to go up.' Now would
you want to go to that restaurant? That's what they're
giving you with expansion" (L.A. TIMES, 4/27)....The book,
"You Don't Forget Homers Like That," by freelance writer
DANNY GALLAGHER, profiles the Expos organization (Toronto
     GLOBE & MAIL, 4/26).
