          The N.Y. POST's Phil Mushnick reports this morning that
     CBS golf analyst Gary McCord, "banished" from working The
     Masters the last two years for "excessive (and often forced)
     irreverence" is "expected" to return to work Augusta for CBS
     next year (N.Y. POST, 4/25)....WBIS+ in NYC will air seven
     and one-half hours of The Golf Channel programming per week
     beginning April 28 and running through "at least" July 28
     (Gould Media)....Fox Sports Net has reached an agreement to
     air a minimum of four of golf's Celebrity Players Tour
     tournaments in '97, and will also offer marketing and
     promotional support (Fox Sports Net)....The MLB Rangers and
     KRLD-AM "are in talks" to transmit Rangers games over the
     Internet at no charge to listeners (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM,
     4/25)....Ratings in South FL "suggest more local viewers are
     watching spring pro sports than anytime in recent history." 
     The Marlins are averaging a 6.8 rating, compared to 5.3, 4.3
     and 3.9 the past three years; the Heat finished the season
     with its "highest ratings this decade, possibly ever," with
     an average of a 5.3 rating; the Panthers' ratings rose from
     a 0.9 last year to a 1.5 this season (MIAMI HERALD, 4/25).
