MEDIA NOTES

Although MLB has asked teams and radio stations to stop
carrying webcasts of games locally while it seeks a national
internet partner, BROADCASTING & CABLE reports that the
Orioles are "ignoring" MLB and continuing to offer games on
     the Internet over WBAL-AM's site (B&C, 4/21)....In N.Y.,
Richard Sandomir reports the NHL has "vetoed" a request to
license its archives to American Sports Classics (ASC),
Cablevision's start-up rival to Classic Sports Network
(CSN). While the NBA "may consider" American Sports
Classics next year, MLB Productions "was ready" to make a
deal with the new network, but MLB officials "halted it
temporarily to assess" whether to license its archives to
both ASC and CSN (N.Y. TIMES, 4/23)....NBC's broadcasting
teams for its '97 NFL coverage: Dick Enberg-Paul Maguire-
Phil Simms; Marv Albert-Randy Cross; Charlie Jones-Bob
Trumpy; Tom Hammond-Jim Kelly; Mike Breen-James Lofton; Don
     Criqui-Jim Mora; and Dan Hicks-Beasley Reece (NBC)....ABC
Sports will mount miniature cameras on one jockey's helmet
in each of the Triple Crown horse races (N.Y. TIMES,
4/23)....In Denver, Fox Sports Rocky Mountain's Game One
rating for the Blackhawks-Avalanche playoff did a 7.7
rating, more than double the average for regular season
     games (DENVER POST, 4/22).
