TOBACCO BILL MAY FORCE PLAYER'S TO STOP PLAYING IN CANADA

          Unless there are "immediate amendments" to the Canadian
     government's "controversial" ban on tobacco advertising,
     Player's Motorsport will disband, according to Ian McDonald
     of the Montreal GAZETTE.  Player's owns teams in the CART
     PPG World Series, Toyota Atlantic Series and Indy Lights
     Series and those series have been informed that Player's
     teams will not race "unless amendments are made to the new
     law."  Player's Ltd. President Jean Paul Blais said that
     unless the ban is amended, Player's Ltd. "has no alternative
     but to immediately cancel its racing program. ... to protect
     the company, company employees, suppliers, event partners
     and all other individuals and drivers associated with the
     program from prosecution" (Montreal GAZETTE, 4/19).
