TORONTO REPORT HAS JOE THEISMANN APPLYING FOR CFL TOP POST

          ESPN commentator Joe Theismann "is about to apply to
     become commissioner of the CFL," according to a source of
     Marty York of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL.  The source who
     works with Theismann on ESPN's NFL broadcasts said that
     Theismann "will make a formal application this week."   Blue
     Bombers President Lynn Bishop, who is a member of the
     commissioner search committee, said he was unaware of any
     interest from Theismann and that he "might not be a genuine
     candidate because he is a U.S. citizen."  Bishop: "There is
     a leaning toward hiring a Canadian (GLOBE & MAIL, 4/22).
