NAMES IN THE NEWS

          RICK PITINO will be a guest on PBS's Charlie Rose
     tonight at 11:00pm ET (USA TODAY, 4/18).  PITINO appeared on
     ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning, promoting his new
     book "Success is a Choice: Ten Steps to Overachieving in
     Business and Life" ("GMA," ABC, 4/18). ...KARL MALONE, on
     the 76ers' ALLEN IVERSON being named Player of the Week,
     after he scored 40 or more points in five straight games,
     while his team went 0-5: "It's a mockery of the game.  Oh-
     and-five and you score 40?  So what?" (DESERET NEWS, 4/17).
     ...Rick Reilly notes in SI, SHAQUILLE O'NEAL and Universal
     Studios theme park are developing a Shaq "entertainment
     venue," in which you will be able to pursue your favorite
     "Shaqtivities," such as recording rap music, playing video
     games and shooting basketballs (SI, 4/21 issue).
