SPONSORS TAKE WAIT-AND-SEE STANCE ON DALY ENDORSEMENTS

Sponsors of PGA Tour golfer John Daly "are supporting
him publicly" as he participates in alcohol rehabilitation,
but "small doubts have begun to appear," according to Adam
Barr of GOLFWEEK. Daly's "success" in his second series of
treatment, his first was in '93, "may play a major role in
his economic future." Both Reebok and Daly's agent, John
Mascatello, say that talks on a renewal of Daly's deal with
Reebok, which expires in December, will continue "despite
recent developments." Jeff Williams, VP/Sales, UST Inc., of
which Daly endorses their graphite shafts: "We're going to
give him as much support as we can, but we've got to keep in
mind what's going on out there" (GOLFWEEK, 4/12 issue).
