MEDIA NOTES

ESPN will televise Game 1 of the Ducks-Coyotes playoff
series, but the ESPN telecast is "scheduled to be blacked
out" in Southern CA because of Fox Sports West 2. The Ducks
"are fighting to get the ESPN blackout lifted" because FSW2
is available on only a few cable systems in Southern CA and
none in Orange County (L.A. TIMES, 4/14)....N.Y. POST
columnist Phil Mushnick: "There's a war brewing between
baseball's national regular-season rights holders, Fox and
ESPN, over which network gets first crack at using
technological innovations." Mushnick reports that ESPN was
set last week to use a mini-camera on a catcher's mask, but
MLB "put the kibosh on it, claiming Fox, which plans to use
the same kind of camera next month when its Saturday Games
of the Week begin, asked first" (N.Y. POST, 4/13)....In
N.Y., Elsen & Curdele writes "all four major networks have
expressed interest" in New York's WBIS+, but ITT considers
Fox "the most serious of the four" (N.Y. POST, 4/14).
