FOX FILES SUIT AGAINST THE ANGELS AND DISNEY

Fox Sports West sued the Angels and part-owner Disney
Co. yesterday, claiming they are "unlawfully trying to
breach" the station's contract to televise the team's games,
according to the L.A. TIMES. Fox wants a court order
stating the defendants are not permitted to break the
contract at the end of the season. The lawsuit states Fox
signed a contract extension in '95 allowing it to broadcast
Angels games until the end of the '99 season. Fox claims
the Angels were permitted to end the deal under "specific
conditions" before the start of the '96 season, but didn't.
Fox says it "received a letter two weeks ago on Disney
stationary" that said the team will end the agreement after
     the last regular-season game in '97 (L.A. TIMES, 4/11).
