TALKS ON YANKS' FUTURE GRIPPED BY THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE

Yankees Exec VP & General Counsel David Sussman said
that advance ticket sales, up over 300,000 from last year,
would be "even higher" in a new stadium in a new location,
according to Richard Sandomir of the N.Y. TIMES. But,
Sandomir notes that with the Yankees "ready to reap the
financial fruits" of their championship, "all parties in
talks about the team's future home have lapsed into an
almost-preternatural silence." Sussman: "There's no news,
no meetings planned with the state and city." While advance
sales have reached 1.4 million, sales of full season-ticket
plans increased 12% this year, but remain below 10,000.
Sussman: "We're very disappointed. We're the world
champions, but we've sold only 40 percent of what the
Baltimore Orioles have sold, in a market that's, what, ten
times larger?" (N.Y. TIMES, 4/11). In today's NYC
newspapers, adidas took out full page ads with the Yankees'
logo over the word "repeat" (Mult., 4/11).
