ABL TO HIT THE BEACH WITH LONG BEACH, CA, AS NINTH FRANCHISE

          The ABL plans to expand to nine teams for its second
     season, according to USA TODAY's Dick Patrick.  The ABL
     "anticipates" naming Long Beach, CA, as its ninth franchise
     by next week.  ABL President Gary Cavalli: "We have a couple
     of little things to resolve."  The ABL "hoped" to add two
     franchises, but plans for a Long Island, NY, team "didn't
     work out" (USA TODAY, 4/10).
