          In Canada, CTV Sports Net VP Gary Maavara said the
     channel "is on target" to start operation in September.
     Maavara: "We're still putting things together and we're
     optimistic that we'll be there (in September)."  Sources say
     CTV Sports Net has bought rights to Grizzlies games, NHL
     matches and "is negotiating" to cover the Expos and Raptors
     (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 3/27)....CBS Sports' "Budweiser
     Boxing Series" will start Sunday from 4:00-5:00pm ET when
     James "Buster" Douglas fights Brian Scott at Mohegan Sun
     Casino in Uncasville, CT (CBS)....Topspin, a new tennis
     magazine targeted at the pre-teen and teen market, will
     premier a 48-page issue, dated April/May '97, appearing on
     newsstands early April.  Pete Sampras will be the cover
     story (USTA)...The Sharks and KARA-FM have announced a
     three-year deal starting next season.  For the past four
     seasons, KFRC-AM was the Sharks' flagship station (SAN JOSE
     MERCURY NEWS, 3/26)....The Internet Advertising Bureau
     reported that advertisers spent $267M on Internet and online
     services in '96.  That is "slightly lower" than the $301M
     reported earlier this month by Jupiter Communications (AD
     AGE, 3/26)....The Senators will put their media game notes
     on their Internet site at www.ottawasenators.com (Senators).
