MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

          The Rose Bowl named ProServ as its exclusive
     advertising and marketing agency.  ProServ will develop and
     market integrated sponsorship and advertising programs for
     the stadium.  The new scoreboard and Trivision being
     installed by the Rose Bowl are among the primary advertising
     and sponsorship avenues for marketers (ProServ)....In N.Y.,
     Joseph Pereira examines Reebok's new DMX running shoe, which
     will hit 5,000 retail outlets on April 1.  Reebok is
     "betting the new shoe will help it regain cachet as a maker
     of 'performance' shoes ... and thereby kindle sales in the
     broader consumer market" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3/27).
     ...Milwaukee lawyer David Cross, the inventor of an
     inflatable cheesehead hat, is filing suit to preempt the
     manufacturer of the original cheesehead hat, Foamation,
     Inc., from alleging the new inflatable hat is a "rip-off" of
     the first cheesehead hat (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL,
     3/27)....ESPN's Bob Ley noted that Nike said it is in "no
     rush" to edit the "Group Therapy" spots that have Kenny
     Lofton in an Indians uniform.  Ley also added that UNC head
     coach Dean Smith "reluctantly" granted permission to one
     local company, Chapel Hill Sportswear, for a licensed
     commemorative shirt celebrating the breaking of Adolph
     Rupp's coaching record.  Portions of the proceeds will be
     directed by Smith to charity ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 3/26).
