DEJA-VU AS SECOND SYDNEY COMMITTEE CEO STEPS DOWN

          Sydney Organizing Committee CEO Mal Hemmerling has
     resigned his position for the 2000 Olympic Games (SOCOG),
     according to an AP report in the BOSTON GLOBE.  The office
     of Olympics Minister Michael Knight said that Hemmerling had
     resigned "to pursue other career interests."  But the AP
     reports that SOCOG Media Information Manager Tracey Holmes
     "was unable to confirm or deny" Hemmerling's resignation. 
     Hemmerling is the second SOCOG chief executive to step down
     since the organization's creation (AP/BOSTON GLOBE, 3/26).
