LAWMAKERS VOTE TO LIMIT LIQUOR AT REDSKINS STADIUM

Prince George's County, MD, legislators voted to "deny"
a seven-day-a-week liquor license that the Redskins want for
their new stadium in Landover, "where they hope to hold many
non-football events and perhaps establish restaurants,"
according to Terry Neal of the WASHINGTON POST. The county's
delegation did "narrowly" approve a five-day liquor license,
"which some saw as a slap at the Redskins." Legislative
leaders "denounced" the vote and "said they will urge the
Prince George's lawmakers to reverse their decision." A five-
day license "probably" would allow the team to serve alcohol
at all football games, but would close stadium and restaurant
bars for two days a week, and "might cause scheduling
problems for events and concerts." The Redskins "said their
stadium would be the only professional sports facility in the
country without a seven-day license" (WASHINGTON POST, 3/15).
