MEDIA NOTES

NEWSDAY's Steve Zipay writes that his "spies" say UPN
"could emerge as a possible bidder for NBA rights" (NEWSDAY,
3/14)....NBA VP/GM Communications Group Brian McIntyre, when
asked about CBS analyst Billy Packer's recent comments on
the NBA taking much of college basketball's top talent,
adding "The NBA is now the enemy." McIntyre: "Billy is
always interesting but not always informative" (PHILA.
INQUIRER, 3/14)....Outdoor Life and Speedvision Networks
reached a deal with WBIS-TV in New York. WBIS will air a
variety of programming from both Outdoor Life and
Speedvision Networks (Outdoor Life)....CBS Sports President
Sean McManus, on the next NBA TV deal: "The NBA's a
wonderful TV property, but there's a 79 percent disparity in
ratings between Chicago Bulls games and other games. With
Michael Jordan playing probably two more years, one in the
first year of the new TV contract, we'd have to take that
into consideration in our bid. I'd guess the NBA probably
will stay with NBC" (USA TODAY, 3/14)....Kevin Kiley has
submitted his resignation to TBS. He will host the new
players show he created with the NFLPA (USA TODAY, 3/14).
