ARE MARKETERS FISHING FOR MORE SPONSOR DOLLARS ON THE NET?

In his Sunday NHL notes column, the TORONTO SUN's Al
Strachan writes that a move to allow advertising on NHL goal
posts and crossbars "has been repelled." Strachan: "The
NHL's marketers want it and so do some of the team owners."
But "purists in the NHL head office ... are hanging firm for
the time being." Strachan adds that one team applied for
permission to sell rights to the net where an advertiser
would be able to stencil a company logo on the net. The
"league has not given approval -- yet" (TORONTO SUN, 3/9).
