FRANCHISE NOTES

NFL Oilers Owner Bud Adams "insisted" he will not give
in on negotiations to move the team to TN next year. Adams:
"I'm not going to pay people just to throw money away.
Cleveland paid $3 million a year to get out of their deal,
and the Rams paid $2 million a year. We're already at
almost $6 million" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/9)....In Utah, Karl
Cates of the DESERET NEWS examines the financial health of
the Jazz: "Jazz executives never talk very publicly about
the cash flow of the privately held club, but clues abound
to its robust fiscal health" (DESERET NEWS, 3/9)....Playoff
tickets for the Stars are "a hot item." The team sold 1,200
eight-game strips Friday, the first day tickets were
available to the general public (DALLAS MORNING NEWS,
     3/8)....Dolphins season-ticket holders age 13+ can buy
     Marlins season-tickets for $162 -- $2 a game over the 81-
game schedule. Customers 12+ can get their Marlins seats
for $81, $1 per game. Marlins season-ticket holders can buy
Dolphins season-tickets for $140, down from $170 in the
economy section. Marlins President Don Smiley said there is
a plan for a similar program for the Marlins and NHL
Panthers (MIAMI HERALD, 3/8)....In Minneapolis, Sid Hartman:
"If St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman wants to lure the Hartford
Whalers or another team to St. Paul, the city needs to do
more than remodel the St. Paul Civic Center. It must find a
television station or sponsor that will guarantee an NHL
team a much higher TV rights fee than what was paid to the
North Stars" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 3/8).
