The Michael Jordan Automotive Group (MJAG) took over a
Glen Burnie, MD, Nissan dealership in November '95, but the
"makeshift banner" outside the facility still says "Nissan
of Glen Burnie," according to Janet Burkitt of the
WASHINGTON POST. Pat Pascarella, co-Owner of the
dealership, says that the reason for the "lack of fanfare"
is Jordan is "first-class. [His] other dealerships are
first-class. But right now, this place is no-class."
Pascarella is president of MJAG, which includes himself,
Jordan, and FAME President Curtis Polk. The MJAG owns other
dealerships in NC, and Pascarella said the group plans to
buy more dealerships in the DC-Baltimore area. Although
Jordan owns 65% of the Glen Burnie dealership, he has not
visited the facility. The dealership will be renovated to
include a "distinct basketball theme," where children can
watch Jordan highlights while parents shop. The dealership
currently gives away Nike Air Jordan merchandise to car-
buying customers (WASHINGTON POST, 2/27).
SMELLS GOOD: ESPN's "Dollars & Sports" reports that
Michael Jordan's Bijan cologne has made a $40M profit in two
months since it hit stores ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 2/26).
