U.S.-based Internet ad sales house Softbank Interactive
Marketing will sell ads on Carling Net at http://www.fa.
carling.com, the official site of the U.K.'s Football
Association Carling Premiership, and one of the Internet's
top soccer sites (AD AGE, 2/17)....In Orange County, the
REGISTER's Barbara Kingsley writes on the controversy over
the new cable channel, Fox Sports West 2. Kingsley: "How
long will this go on? Some say until April 1, the day of
Fox's first Dodgers broadcast. ... [whose] TV fans number in
the hundreds of thousands. There undoubtedly will come a
howl when fans can't get 40 Dodgers games that will no doubt
be heavily advertised by FSW2" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER,
2/17)....In N.Y., Peter Truell examines the various TV
business news shows: "Many businesspeople have come to
regard financial television as increasingly important to
their professional lives, even though they often gripe about
the shallowness of the insight being proffered. Perhaps
that should not be surprising, some regular viewers say,
since the smartest analysts are too busy making money to
make television appearances" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/17).
