ADIDAS WINS THE RIGHT TO OUTFIT THE GOLDEN DOMERS

          In "one of the major marketing coups of its modern
     era," adidas "has beaten out" Nike and Reebok to outfit the
     Notre Dame football team, according to Jeff Manning in the
     Portland OREGONIAN.  Adidas announced a five-year deal with
     Notre Dame that will see it provide footwear to the football
     team and footwear and apparel to "most" of the other 26
     varsity  sports.  Champion retains its exclusive apparel
     agreement with the football team.  Adidas N.A. President
     Steve Wynne would neither confirm nor deny reports that the
     company paid $25M for the deal (Portland OREGONIAN, 2/15).
