LEAGUE NOTES

          Tonight's IHL All-Star Game in Grand Rapids, MI, will
     be carried in the U.S. by SportsChannel and Fox Sports Net,
     and in Canada by TSN and RDS.  Fox Sports International will
     broadcast the game to Australia, Central America, South
     Americas, Russia and South Africa at a later date. The '98
     All-Star Game will be held at the Orlando Arena next
     February.  During All-Star festivities, the IHL unveiled its
     retooled site on the Internet at http://www.theihl.com.  The
     site, by MI-based The Hamilton Group, gives stats and game
     recaps, as well as arena and ticket information (IHL)....In
     Nashville, U.S. Figure Skating Championships Exec Dir Scott
     Ramsey said more than 105,000 people attended all sessions
     of the nine-day event and that it will gross just under
     $1.8M from ticket sales, concessions, merchandising and
     other sources of revenue (Nashville TENNESSEAN/DETROIT NEWS,
     2/17).  14-year-old Tara Lipinski became the youngest
     figure-skating champion ever when she took top honors on
     Saturday night.  Later, "it was announced that she had her
     own Web site on the Internet.  Television appearances were
     in the works.  The tropical storm of her celebrity had
     become a hurricane" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/17).
