TEAM MEDIA NEWS: MARLINS/SUNSHINE NET RESOLVE DISPUTE

In an attempt to resolve an ongoing dispute, the
Sunshine Network, which said it would not use Marlins
announcers Joe Angel, Dave O'Brien and Tommy Hutton, has
"reversed its position" and in exchange, the Marlins will
allow Sunshine to spread its broadcasts over the entire '97
season, and allow Sunshine to reschedule games that conflict
with the Heat, Magic or Lightning playoff games that
Sunshine "is obligated to carry" (MIAMI HERALD, 2/11).
...MSG, which will pay the Yankees $4.5M annually over five
years for radio rights, has made a "tentative deal" to buy
time on WABC-AM to carry the 162 games (N.Y. TIMES, 2/11).
...In Toronto, William Houston notes Blue Jays President
Paul Beeston said that TSN has "decided against" buying
rights to all of the Blue Jays games over the next five
years. "Insiders" tell Houston that the five-year, C$110M
deal was "simply too rich" for TSN and "too much of a risk"
as ad execs "aren't convinced" that ad revenue will support
the Blue Jays' asking price (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 2/11).
