Fila will "tap the empathy of everyday female athletes"
with a $5M print and POP campaign debuting at the end of
February for women's shoes and apparel handled by N.Y.-based
Arnell Group, according to Steve Gelsi of BRANDWEEK. Later
this spring, Fila will introduce a second $5M unisex
clothing campaign, featuring black-and-white photos of
"unknown" women athletes with the theme, "Designed Specially
For A Woman's Movement." Ads will debut in March issues of
Self, N.Y. Times Magazine and Elle and be included in a
later run in Marie Claire, Seventeen, Glamour, Vogue and
Essence. In addition, the campaign features a spot in the
new SI for Women. Arnell, "known" for its DKNY work, will
work on Fila Sport and Fila Activewear apparel lines for men
and women national ads (BRANDWEEK, 2/10 issue).
