MEDIA NOTES

The NBA's legal dispute against Motorola and AOL over
real-time scoring is analyzed by James Leadbetter in the
VILLAGE VOICE. Leadbetter concludes that "it's hard to
believe that the NBA will prevail at the final buzzer" as
Federal Judge Loretta Preska "clearly rejected the NBA's
claim that it holds a copyright on the score" (VILLAGE
VOICE, 1/21)....In Toronto, Rob Longley notes Fox's "much-
maligned glowing blue hockey puck is improved ... [but] It
still sucks" (TORONTO SUN, 1/20).....CBS' "60 Minutes"
profiled News Corp. Chair Rupert Murdoch. Andrew Neil,
former editor of Murdoch's London Sunday Times, comparing
Murdoch to Ted Turner: "Rupert's far more formidable. Ted
Turner walks a fine edge between genius and madness.
There's nothing mad about Rupert. I'd put my money on
Rupert any day against Ted" (CBS, 1/19).
