MSG NETWORK BUYS YANKEES RADIO RIGHTS

MSG Network has agreed to purchase Yankees radio rights
for about $45M over ten years, according to sources of
NEWSDAY's Steve Zipay. MSG already holds exclusive Yankees
TV rights to 2000 and although MSG doesn't own any local
radio station, it "might" buy air time on the Yankees' home
station for the past decade, WABC, whose contract ended last
year. MSG would package both radio and TV spots and sell
the advertising to sponsors (NEWSDAY, 1/17). In N.Y., Bob
Raissman reports that WABC had offered Yankees Owner George
Steinbrenner $3M per-year, and WFAN also made a bid in that
     range (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 1/17).
