AS THE WORM TURNS: MORE FROM THE RODMAN-NIKE SHOE TALKS

A Nike representative told THE DAILY that while chances
are "slim" of retaining Dennis Rodman to its client roster,
no decisions have been finalized. Nike Dir of Public
Relations Jim Small: "We realize we probably won't be able
to maintain our relationship with Dennis. But we have the
utmost respect for Dennis and wish him the best of luck in
the future if he decides to go with another company."
Rodman is reportedly now wearing Converse shoes, but
according to a Converse spokesperson, "We're involved in
discussions, but nothing has been finalized" (THE DAILY).
MORE NIKE: Rodman's agent, Dwight Manley, said Rodman
is "considering suing" Nike for allegedly releasing a Rodman
shoe -- the Air Worm -- "without his permission," according
to Jeff Manning in the Portland OREGONIAN. The shoe, which
featured a zipper rather than laces, was first put on
shelves last summer, and Manley says Nike pulled it after he
and his client complained (Portland OREGONIAN, 1/13). ...In
Chicago, Steve Rosenbloom: "The word around Nike types is
that Grant Hill isn't happy with Fila and could be headed to
the swoosh in a year and a half" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/14).
