CORPORATE OWNERSHIP OF SPORTS TEAMS DEBATED ON CNBC

Corporate ownership as the "new trend" in professional
sports franchises was examined on CNBC's "Business
Insiders." Princeton Univ. Professor & author Michael
Danielson: "We are going to see more and more teams owned by
     big corporations, particularly communications, entertainment
and personal services of one kind or another. ... it is
inevitable and it will come slowest in the National Football
League where there's been a ban on corporate ownership."
SportsCorp. President Marc Ganis: "I think it is getting
excessive right now, because in many cases, the ownership of
a sport franchise is winding up simply being more
broadcasting fodder, basically software for broadcasting
entities as opposed to for the love of the sport and the
performance of the sport" ("Business Insiders," CNBC, 1/15).
