LEAGUE NOTES

          Santa Clara County Judge John Herlihy ruled that a
     Raiders' lawsuit accusing the NFL of breaches of contract
     and mismanagement of NFL Properties and the WLAF can go to
     trial.  Herlihy also denied an NFL motion to dismiss the
     $200M suit (S.F. CHRONICLE, 12/19)....The top 14 rugby teams
     in the U.S. will join the newly formed Rugby Super League,
     owned and operated by USA Premier Rugby L.L.C., which begins
     in March '97 (USA Premier Rugby)....LPGA Commissioner Jim
     Ritts is "at a fact finding stage" of an LPGA developmental
     circuit, similar to the Nike Tour (GOLFWEEK, 12/14 issue).
