CONSULTANTS GIVE HAND IN HELPING PLAYERS DEAL WITH MEDIA

The field of "helping athletes, managers and coaches
cooperate with the media is growing as teams struggle to
maintain good public images under the all-seeing eye of TV,"
according to Joe Goddard of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. One of
the "leaders" in the industry is Chicago-based Speaking
Specialists, the husband/wife team of Randy Minkoff and Sue
Castorino. Minkoff: "Our business is to help other people
sell themselves. We stress how to look on TV, how to talk
with the print media. One thing we stress is never say, 'No
Comment.' If you want to go off the record, set ground
rules first. But understand it's a risky business" (CHICAGO
     SUN-TIMES, 12/18).
