PROSTYLE REFUTES NFL PROPERTIES OVER USE OF PACKER MARKS

WI-based ProStyle Inc. denied it has marketed apparel
unfairly using Packers trademarks in response to the Packers
and NFL Properties filing suit alleging the firm was
illegally selling Packers merchandise, according to Dave
Daley in the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. ProStyle Attorney
John Fredrickson said in papers filed in federal court in
Milwaukee that the Packers and NFL were "distorting facts"
to give the impression that ProStyle is selling "knockoff"
apparel through the unauthorized use of Packers products.
Fredrickson: "The Packers have no registered trademark
rights in the colors green and gold, the words Green Bay or
the numbers worn by particular Green Bay Packers when in
uniform." ProStyle's Sherri Tanner, who is also named in
the suit, said ProStyle has more than one dozen Packers
players under contract, including Reggie White, Mark Chmura
and Don Beebe (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/18).
