ORCA BAY SLAPPED WITH MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT

Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment is faced with a multi-
million dollar lawsuit from the minority shareholders of its
subsidiary, Northwest Sports Enterprises Ltd., according to
Keith Damsell of the FINANCIAL POST. The claim alleges that
the Griffiths family -- the former controlling shareholder
of Northwest -- failed on acting in "the best interests" of
investors when it negotiated the company's sports holdings
expansion. The suit claims the Griffiths failed to give
Northwest's board of directors full disclosure of material
facts involving the acquisition of the Grizzlies and the
construction of GM Place. Primex Investments Ltd. President
Art Rennison, which controls about 10.6% of Northwest: "We
want the return of the arena and the basketball enterprise
to Northwest." Orca Bay had no comment on the suit and
statements of the defense will be filed next month. Last
month, the B.C. Supreme Court of Appeal upheld Rennison's
right to sue the Griffiths and Orca Bay. The trial is
likely to start some time in '98 (FINANCIAL POST, 12/14).
