STADIUM NOTES

          The Minneapolis City Council reaffirmed its decision
     that no final site for a new ballpark will be chosen until
     the Legislature approves a design and a finance proposal
     with "significant private investment."  The council favors
     two sites near the Metrodome (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE,
     12/14)....An Indy Racing League event will be held at the
     Charlotte Motor Speedway on July 26 (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
     12/15)....In a meeting on a proposed sports arena complex
     for downtown L.A., City Council issues included jobs and
     community outreach for minorities.  Also, negotiators want
     to assure that arena operators will keep their promise to
     have the Kings and Lakers play most of their home games in
     the arena for 25 years.  And, negotiators are pursuing to
     protect taxpayers' funds if arena operators do not complete
     the $200M structure (L.A. TIMES, 12/14).
