OLD COWBOYS DON'T FADE AWAY -- THEY FORM OWN MARKETING ARM

Five Cowboys -- Larry Allen, Ray Donaldson, Nate
Newton, Mark Tuinei and Erik Williams -- have joined forces
with sports agent Eric Dunn and formed Five Star Sports
Marketing/Public Relations, according to Lesley Hensell of
the DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL. Five Star will "promote its
own player-partners," and the players and Dunn each chipped
in $50,000 to launch their partnership. Dunn: "The athletes
need to make the transition from players to businessmen. No
matter how long they play, marketing has to be considered a
part-time-income opportunity." Dunn expects the partnership
to generate about $500,000 in revenue in its first year. He
receives 20%, with the players each getting 16%. Donaldson,
the oldest of the players at 38, met Dunn at a concert, and
was "looking to lay a path for his post-football career."
Donaldson: "We're looking for a little publicity more than
anything else" (DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/25 issue).
