          Quaker Oats is said to be holding "substantive talks"
     on a proposed sale of Gatorade and Snapple, with PepsiCo,
     Coca-Cola and "at least one other group of investors"
     (BRANDWEEK, 11/25 issue)....On CNBC's "SportsView," Sally
     Jenkins commented that the increasing popularity in women's
     sports is a "gold rush."  Jenkins: "There's been a
     tremendous shift in the last 25 years from the decorative
     for women to the active, and you can see that in the dollars
     spent in the last year on athletics -- ten billion dollars." 
     Jenkins noted $320M worth of hiking shoes were sold to women
     in '95: "The days of the pom-pom girl are over"
     ("SportsView," CNBC, 11/25)....On December 3, Columbia
     Sportswear opens its "Museum of Modern Warmth" in a
     Portland, OR Carriage House.  The "museum"/retail store
     showcases Columbia's entire line of products (Columbia)....
     U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT examines allegations that the use
     of "chase cards" in packs of trading cards are a form of
     illicit gambling.  Because such cards are randomly placed in
     packages, and can be worth "big bucks," suits have been
     filed in federal court saying three elements of illicit
     gambling as defined by the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
     Organizations Act are present: cost, chance and potential
     payoff (U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT, 12/2 issue)....Olympic
     Gold Medal winner Shannon Miller, an Edmond, OK, native,
     will star in a series of ads for Bank of Oklahoma.  The ads
     will feature Miller wearing the bank's logo on her uniform
     as she jumps, hurdles and flips through the air.  The spots
     are created and produced by Ackerman McQueen of Oklahoma
     City (ADWEEK, 11/25)....Miller Brewing Co. has joined forces
     with the Bulls to debut a campaign commemorating the Bulls'
     four NBA Championships.  The promo features special
     packaging, featuring the official Bulls' logo along with
     four trophies (Miller)....The 1996 Pop Warner Little Scholar
     Super Bowl will be held at Walt Disney World December 10-15. 
     The event consists of 40 youth football teams and 80 cheer
     and dance squads from across the country vying for their
     respective division titles (Walt Disney World Sports).
