GOOD AND WELFARE, NBA STYLE: BUCKS TO GET A HANDOUT

          The Bucks could be among an undetermined amount of
     teams that will split about $49M from the NBA under a
     league-wide revenue sharing plan "quietly" approved in early
     November, according to Mark Kass in the BUSINESS JOURNAL OF
     MILWAUKEE.  The NBA will distribute funds it has collected
     from teams that broadcast their games beyond a 75-mile
     radius to small-market franchises that "lag" in local TV
     revenue, according to a formula devised by the league. 
     Bucks VP/Business Operations John Steinmiller said that the
     Bucks will qualify for funding due to the lack of a
     lucrative TV or radio deal.  The Pacers, T-Wolves, Nuggets,
     Hawks and Kings as franchises in the running for the revenue
     sharing set to begin next summer.  Steinmiller noted that
     the plan was approved "without much fanfare" since the money
     the NBA was held by the league from past TV revenue. 
     Steinmiller: "The money was being held in escrow, so it
     makes it harder to scream if someone is not taking the money
